His focus today lies in driving change that feels good for patients and providers alike; Joyn Health does that under one umbrella. Outside of work, you’ll find him at basketball and volleyball games with his two daughters.

James has dedicated his career to cultivating healing environments for both patients and staff. His journey commenced with a deep-seated passion for wound care and hyperbaric medicine, which fueled his dedication to elevating the patient experience. Through a focus on operational excellence, team cohesion, and streamlined processes, James has been at the forefront of catalyzing transformative changes across health systems, spanning specialty and primary care domains. James’s multifaceted contributions underscore his steadfast commitment to propelling the evolution of healthcare delivery.

Ben is currently a partner with Seamless Ventures, a firm focused on helping large organizations leverage collaboration to execute on their strategic innovation agenda. In addition to working with the global startup community, Ben also supports human-centered design studio projects and living innovation labs. Prior to joining Seamless, Ben’s twenty years in healthcare included working for one of the largest health systems in the country, leading both innovation and start-up investment efforts. Ben lives with his wife and two boys in Grand Rapids, MI, where you can find him coaching sports and cooking. He also occasionally disappears into the northern Michigan wilderness chasing large trout and steelhead.

Katie Birkbeck is an experienced marketing professional with a background in supporting local businesses and managing tenant engagement in commercial real estate. Passionate about fostering connections, she has led innovative strategies to boost community engagement and brand loyalty. Her expertise in blending creative content with results-driven marketing aligns seamlessly with Joyn Health’s mission to deliver personalized, high-touch healthcare. A proud New Jersey native (and self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur), Katie now calls Charlotte, NC home, where she lives with her husband, Matt, and their Australian Shepherd, Tyber. Outside of work, she enjoys paddle boarding, trying new restaurants, and cruising to warm destinations.

Scott Lancaster, MD, MBA, is a venture capitalist, board certified diagnostic radiologist, and real estate entrepreneur. His previous successes also include practice management, corporate leadership, and contract negotiation. He specializes in creating immediate and future value for investors. Scott and his wife Maggie are involved in the non-profit sector in West Michigan at Spectrum Health, the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and more. Scott earned his BS in Microbiology, and later an MBA from the University of Michigan. He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Michigan State University, and completed the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Henry Ford Hospital.
